What gets you out of bed in the morning?
In theory, we go to bed to dream, but Thinking Pharma reckons that it’s our dreams that get us out of bed.
Our dreams not only get us out of bed, they inspire us.
Perhaps the most inspiring four words spoken in the last 100 years were :
Those four words inspired a generation to change their thinking.
They mobilized a global shift in the way people related to one another.
Powerful stuff.
The great systems thinker Fred Emery is quoted as saying:
“Human are by nature ideal seeking. Organisations are at best purposeful.”
This can be seen in every organization that sets targets, goals and objectives.
People will work towards those ends, but they don’t inspire.
Targets don’t make you want to leap out of bed in the morning.
One of the things that make organisations wary of dreams is their fuzziness.
Dreams are not as concrete as targets.
They can’t be expressed in exact numbers. That’s what makes them so seductive.
So what are Pharma’s Dreams?
Has it got any dreams?
One company that does have dreams is Google.
"The perfect search engine," says Google co-founder Larry Page, "would understand exactly what you mean and give back exactly what you want."
That’s a dream. It’s not something that can be framed up in a spreadsheet.
From its inception, Google has focused on providing the best user experience possible. While many companies claim to put their customers first, few are able to resist the temptation to make small sacrifices to increase shareholder value. Google has steadfastly refused to make any change that does not offer a benefit to the users who come to the site.
Over the years I have worked for many ‘bosses’ in many organisations.
Not one of them had a dream. They all had targets.
I found getting out of bed in the morning particularly difficult.
I am now working with Thinking Pharma.
We have big dreams.
Dreams that imagine the profitable union of Pharma and Social Media.
A union that works brilliantly for all involved.
How can that happen? No-one is sure,…..its a dream.
Do you have difficulty getting out of bed in the morning?
Is your Pharma organisation in need of a bit of Dreamware?
The solution is obvious:
Come on over and dream with us at Thinking Pharma.
